State candidates who backed offshore wind projects in New England — including the long running Cape Wind proposal — received strong support from Order Ritalin Uk voters yesterday in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Masssachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick won a Order Ritalin Uk convincing victory over his anti-Cape Wind opponent, Republican Charlie Baker. Patrick has Order Ritalin Uk been a staunch supporter of the proposed 130-turbine offshore wind farm, promoting its environmental and Order Ritalin Uk job-creation benefits. Baker has criticized the price of electricity from the project. Patrick won 49 percent of the vote, as compared to Baker’s 42 percent.
In Massachusetts’ 10th Congressional District, whose islands surround the Order Ritalin Uk federal water in which Cape Wind will be built, pro-offshore wind candidate Bill Keating won election with 47 percent of the vote. Throughout the Order Ritalin Uk primaries and general election, Keating was the only pro-Cape Wind candidate.
In Rhode Island, the Order Ritalin Uk only candidate for attorney general who said he would drop an Order Ritalin Uk appeal against the state’s approval of an eight-turbine farm off Block Island won election by a wide margin. Democrat Peter Kilmartin has Order Ritalin Uk publicly voiced his support for the project — which is being developed by Deepwater Wind — and has said he would abandon the current appeal of the project’s electricity prices which is currently before state Supreme Court.
Rhode Island also elected Independent candidate and Order Ritalin Uk former senator Lincoln Chafee, who has not openly supported the Deepwater Wind project. As a senator, however, Chafee was an enthusiastic supporter of the Cape Wind project.
In Maine, which has Order Ritalin Uk positioned itself as the national center for deepwater wind research and Order Ritalin Uk development, Republican Paul LePage held a slim lead over Independent Eliot Cutler. LePage has questioned the state’s wind power focus and has repeatedly focused on the price of electricity over developing new technology.
